We're Back (And Why I Needed to Give Myself Grace)
Hey boo 💕
If you've been following Ooume for a while, you might've noticed things got... quiet. Like really quiet. For about six months, I went ghost. No posts. No updates. No new batches.
And honestly? I felt guilty about it for a long time.
Life Was Lifing
Between being a full-time mom, working on my MBA, and just trying to keep my head above water, something had to give. For a minute, that something was Ooume.
I kept thinking, "I should be posting. I should be restocking. People are waiting." But the truth is, I was running on empty. I couldn't pour into my business when I had nothing left to pour.
So I stepped back. Not because I didn't care, but because I had to take care of myself first.
The Pressure to Always Be "On"
There's this unspoken pressure as a small business owner — especially as a solo founder — to always be visible, always be grinding, always be available. Social media makes it look like everyone else has it all together, posting consistently, showing up every day, building empires while looking flawless.
But behind the scenes? We're tired. We're juggling a million things. We're human.
And sometimes, we need a break.
Giving Yourself Grace
Here's what I learned during my hiatus:
It's okay to slow down. Your business doesn't have to be "always on" for it to be valid. Small batches mean I get to control the pace, and that includes knowing when to pause.
Your mental health matters more than your content calendar. No amount of engagement is worth burning out. Period.
People who really support you will still be there. When I finally announced we were back, the love and support I received reminded me why I started this in the first place. Y'all showed up for me, even after the silence.
Rest is productive. I came back refreshed, clear-headed, and more excited about Ooume than I've been in a while. That wouldn't have happened if I'd forced myself to keep going when I had nothing left.
We're Back (For Real This Time)
So here we are. Fresh ingredients. A new batch. A clearer mind. And a whole lot of gratitude for everyone who stuck around 🤍
If you're reading this and you're also feeling burned out, stretched thin, or like you're failing because you can't do it all — this is your reminder:
Give yourself grace.
Take the break. Step back. Rest. Your business, your family, your community — they'll still be here when you're ready.
And when you come back? You'll come back stronger.
Thank you for being patient with me. Thank you for still being here. Let's make this next chapter a good one 💕
With love,
Briana
